Feng Shui Simplified- When in Quarantine

Hello beautiful people! Thank you for passing by!

Today I want to introduce you to a Chinese study that will definitely change your life and especially in quarantine, Feng Shui. JOY NO! Okay, wait, just give me a chance and try to read the whole blog and then judge the topic. I promise it will be worth it and I will make it extremely easy to grasp. Ready? Let’s go.

I already started this blog with topics about how design changes your mood and productivity in quarantine. Today after everything with coronavirus and the stress we are in, we want to be able to sit in a room or in our house and feel some positive vibes and good energy. We need a space that lifts us up. But we always ask how can we achieve this? How can we change our space without buying anything new? To change the space we first need to understand it. Did you know that everything around us has energy?  Yes, every item and every wall and every accessory has energy. Even colors immerse energy and affect us. But Joy how does this relate to Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is a pseudoscience developed in China as I already told you. Feng means wind and Shui means water. Wind and water are both associated with good health, meaning good fortune. It is a study of energy, or as it is called in Chinese QI. Feng Shui helps us understand how to balance and harmonize the energy in our homes. To try to simplify it as much as possible, it studies how the energy travels in our home and from room to room. So feng shui has a set of guidelines that help you design your rooms, place your objects, and furniture for better energy flow.

Better energy flow= more pleasant to be in=positive vibes

Now after you know what we are talking about let us start with some interesting stuff!

Elements:

Feng Shui works with 5 important elements. If you take a second and look around you, you will find them in every room. The elements are much more than what you think their names represent. Here is why: Feng shui is VERY SYMBOLIC. It relies on symbols because a study shows that our unconscious mind is very symbolic, we respond to symbols and they affect us directly. (When we see a red heart we directly relate it to love- dollar sign we relate it to money). Hence these five elements reflect objects, shapes, and symbols. They also have a certain meaning.

The elements have a flow and a natural process that should be resembled in every home.

Process of the elements: We burn wood to create fire; we use a knife (metal) to cut wood; we use water to help wood grow; the better the soil (earth) the stronger to wood.

Bagua Map:

Now that we know the elements, their characteristics, meanings, shapes, and colors we should know where to place them in our house or office or any space. That is why we need a map that is called: The Bagua Map. This map suggests what elements to add in a certain space to enhance the flow and energy. This map has two different representations: the traditional and the western. The traditional is more powerful but it is very complex to learn it is done by mapping your compass direction. That is why I will be discussing the western Bagua map. (Next blog will be about: How to create your own Bagua map?)

A home is a reflection of what is going on internally with you.

Hence the western Bagua is divided into 9 quadrants. Every quadrant represents a person in the family or a body part, area of your life, and an element. Meaning that feng shui provides you with this tool (the Bagua map) for you to understand how certain rooms in your house are reflecting your actual life (wealth, job, relationships, health). INTERESTING? I KNOW!

Traditional Bagua (Compass Orientation)

Western Bagua

Let me share a story of Marie Diamond and one of her clients. Marie Diamond is a Feng Shui master. She had a woman client that had a problem with her love life. Every time she travels she meets amazing men and has amazing relationships. However, as soon as she comes back to her house no man approaches her. Marie Diamond went and studied her space and applied the Bagua map accordingly. And she saw that in the love quadrant of her room she had one art piece of a lonely naked woman sleeping alone. This art piece represented her. All she did was replace the art piece and now the woman relationship status is changed. (the energy flow affecting this area changed)

I know what you are saying right now, Joy this is insane. Well, it will not hurt to try!

How to decorate by quadrant:

I hope you enjoyed this introduction on Feng Shui. I will be sharing on my next blog post how to apply them to your house room by room.
Note that I am not a Feng Shui Master, this is all based on my research.

Don’t forget to share it if you liked my post!
